Dear Volleyball Parents, Players and Fans, (9/20/11)
My First Month as director has been both challenging but rewarding at the same time. There were many small obstacles and larger hurdles overcome. To date I feel we have done a great job overcoming and growing.
First, we have worked very hard on the budget to keep the cost down but also maintain our high standards of coaching and tournaments. I believe we have met and even exceeded this goal.
The next step was to maintain and try to improve one of the best coaching staffs in the state. This has been an exciting challenge but feel we have also grown in this area. We will list the names of the coaches but will not finalize the coaches with the teams until after try-outs. Our list of coaches will include:
Giovanny Delevry, Asst Coach at Indian River State College and formally coached with Dwyer HS. Gio played college volleyball at Palm Beach Atlantic University and Warner Southern University.
Ron Jacobs, is a former head volleyball coach at Indian River State College, and is currently the head volleyball coach at South Fork High School, he also has 16 years coaching and officiating club volleyball.
Lori McCaughey, qualified her last three teams for Junior Nationals. 100% of her last two year’s 18’s team is, or has committed, to play in college. Her contacts with college coaches are a huge bonus for Treasure Coast.
Mike Sawtelle, head coach for two time state champion Jensen Beach High School, 4-A coach of the year in 2009, former TCVB director, and coach with TCVB.
Amanda Vaughn, Amanda is a former player with Treasure Coast and graduate of the Martin County Volleyball program. Amanda played volleyball in college and has been with Treasure Coast the last few years.
Marianne Vinnette, qualified a team for Junior Nationals in 2009/10, and was the asst coach for two time state champion Jensen Beach High School. Currently the head JV coach at Jensen Beach High School.
We also have Patti Leonard, Casey Haggerty, Amanda Molter, Megan Romaine and Jessica Lily set to coach with Treasure Coast Volleyball this season.
Finally a big accomplishment for the area was our fall training sessions. We have over 50 athletes from 5th to 10th grade participating in some awesome training. The growth being seen with these kids is through the roof and will only make volleyball in our area stronger.
The future is looking stronger and stronger for Treasure Coast.
Fear The FISH!
Ron Jacobs
TCVB Club Director
